Plantation Golf Resort & Spa
One of Florida's "undiscovered" resorts, Plantation Golf Resort & Spa, can be found along a secluded corner of the Gulf Coast. Nearly every square foot of the 232-acre resort contains some form of recreational activity - 27 holes of golf, two lighted tennis courts, heated outdoor pool, volleyball, shuffleboard, and croquet. Plantation Inn And Golf Resort ~ 0 miles (Not Driving Distance)
North of Tampa, on Florida's Nature Coast, you'll find the beautiful town of Crystal River and the Plantation Inn. The resort features a 6500-yard championship course by Mark Mahannah with tree-lined fairways and water hazards on 14 holes. World Woods Golf Club - Rolling Oaks ~ 14.71 miles (Not Driving Distance)
Although built right next door, the land occupied by Rolling Oaks provides a stark contrast to that at Pine Barrens. Here you'll find huge oak trees draped with Spanish moss within a landscape reminiscent of Augusta National (including Azaleas!). The course features beautiful rolling fairways and well-defined bunkers with bright white sand. Fazio's mindset must have been completely different when designing both courses, but the end results are nothing less than spectacular. Particularly enjoyable are the great par-three holes at Rolling Oaks.... more info.
World Woods Golf Club - Pine Barrens ~ 14.71 miles (Not Driving Distance)
Intimidating. Enjoyable. These two words don't often go hand in hand, but they accurately describe the Pine Barrens course at World Woods. Ranked #26 on Golfweek's list of "America's Best Modern Courses for 2006," this Tom Fazio design has been receiving accolades since it opened in 1991. It's perennially ranked among the nation's top courses by Golf Digest and has been called "Florida's Pine Valley." The course features large fairways framed by expansive waste bunkers and towering pines (hence the comparisons to Pine Valley).... more info.
Hernando Oaks Golf Club ~ 26.41 miles (Not Driving Distance)
Course designer Scott Pate, of Seaside Golf Development, has done wonderful work on the new course at Hernando Oaks. The layout wanders through beautiful Florida countryside and was designed with a sense of fairness in mind. The fairways tend to be wide and forgiving, but there's just the right amount of water to keep your attention. Your score will be determined mostly on how well you handle the elevated and undulating greens. You'll find Hernando Oaks about 45 minutes north of Tampa in the town of Brooksville.... more info.
Southern Hills Plantation ~ 26.89 miles (Not Driving Distance)
Southern Hills invites you to preview their distinctively different course, the only private Pete Dye course in the Tampa area. The terrain is unlike that of any other, with elevations of 60' to nearly 250' and yardages from 5205 to 7557. This phenomenal course opened in early 2006 to rave member reviews.
