About World Woods Golf Club - Pine Barrens (Brooksville, FL)
Intimidating. Enjoyable. These two words don't often go hand in hand, but they accurately describe the Pine Barrens course at World Woods. Ranked #26 on Golfweek's list of "America's Best Modern Courses for 2006," this Tom Fazio design has been receiving accolades since it opened in 1991. It's perennially ranked among the nation's top courses by Golf Digest and has been called "Florida's Pine Valley." The course features large fairways framed by expansive waste bunkers and towering pines (hence the comparisons to Pine Valley).

very challenging and unique fazio-designed course. not recommended for high handicap golfers, unless they really like adventure. No sand traps, but miles and miles of waste area. Some holes have 250 linear yards of it lining one side. Lots of elevation changes and contour shifts on every hole, especially the greens.

Just a fabulous golf course despite the long drive from Orlando. It certainly helped shorten the driving by flying into Tampa, playing there on Monday, then playing at Lake Jovita the next day as we traveled to our final destination of Orlando.
